I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. Suggestions??

I am currently using a lexmark ink jet that uses up ink WAY too fast. My online classes require printing lots of information. Thanks for any suggestions :)I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. Suggestions??
A laser printer might help. They don't print in color (at least the monochrome ones don't) but the price has dropped way down and they're quite fast. In general, you don't need color for most academic purposes.

You also might consider setting your software to print two pages per side of a sheet of paper. If your eyes are okay, it's easy enough to read stuff in this format and it saves various resources as well.I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?鈥?/a> a pretty good one or if you have money

I would say to use an HP printer. Laserjet if printing black Deskjet if printing both color and black. A Deskjet 6940 is good. 5,000 page monthy duty cycle. Ink- 97 color- 450-520pages, 96 black- 800 pages.
Laser printers are much cheaper to use for high volume printing but the up front cost is more:

The canon ip4600 is the best value for money right now.why? Why is my hp23 colour cartridge only printing magenta?

Just installed a new!! hp23 colour cartridge but it only printing magenta. It is out of date but unused. Any help much appreciated. Why is my hp23 colour cartridge only printing magenta?
    IT has expired.

The ink will dry and separate inside a sealed cartridge. Why is my hp23 colour cartridge only printing magenta?
Check your printing settings--if the cartridge is new then it could be color management Report Abuse

The cartridge has some ink jets that are dry from being dated. The ink inside may still be good. Use a qtip and some rubbing alcohol ever so lightly and clean the dispensing area. You will be able to remove the dry crusted ink and save your cartridge.
Cyan, magenta, black and yellow are the only colors used. You might need the other 3 colors for full color process printing.
    Another thing to try:

The ink may have dried out at the orifices. Take a damp / wet paper towel and wipe / scrub the place where the ink comes out of.
wel its out of date??? thats your answer!
its probably running out of ink

Does a blue red yellow cartridge mean that it can only print the colors blue red yellow and not other colors?

No, it will print all colors.Does a blue red yellow cartridge mean that it can only print the colors blue red yellow and not other colors?
It just proves how daunting are the tasks ad/marketing agencies and manual creators of such products have.

Of course it prints all the colors by mixing the CMY (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) colors in percentages.

I really never thought anyone could come up with such a question.Does a blue red yellow cartridge mean that it can only print the colors blue red yellow and not other colors?
Technically, yes, but by mixing those three colors, it can make all colors.
You realize that red, blue and yellow are the basis for all colors, right?

My black cartridge does not print at all. Why?

I have a HP 3325 with a 3320 software on it. I haven't used it for a couple of months and now the black ink cartridge is not working at all. If i take the coloured cartridge out the paper is as good as new. the coloured cartridge works, so instead of black i have green on my paper. I have replaced the ink cartridge but it still doesn't work.My black cartridge does not print at all. Why?
i think you have a clogged print head. contact your hp service or search some ways cleaning your print head, because cleaning it by yourself could damage your print head. there are some printers that you could clean on your own way but i'm not really sure about other brand...

hope that helps you and gives you hint ^^

If you print in black and white, how often do you replace the white ink cartridge ?

You have a place for white ink? Have you ever heard of white ink?

No such thing, white paint maybe, but no white printer ink.

Just a place for the black{and it goes on white paper} thus black and white. And a place for the color cartridge. Printer should tell you when it is low, or if you cannot see anything on the paper, it is more or less gone.If you print in black and white, how often do you replace the white ink cartridge ?
there is no such thing as a white ink cartridge. only black and the color one which is cyan, magenta, and yellow, you replace them when you note the colors fading out as you print. If you print in black and white, how often do you replace the white ink cartridge ?
Lol. theres not a white ink cartridge. Its black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. There is such thing as white ink, but more like commercial printers carry it..

Where can I get Asian print cartridges?

My dad has an HP printer that he bought in Thailand and unfortunatley the black cartridge has run out. He bought what he thought was the correct cartridge (74 and 75) but has found that the European ones don't fit in his printer. Do you know an online site in Asia I can order the correct ones from?

ThanksWhere can I get Asian print cartridges?
Try from HP Asia. The link below is for the Thailand one. Should be able to order from there. I would say that if you have to buy them and pay for the shipping it could be cheaper to buy the European model of the printer which will come with cartridges already and that you can you source ink from more readily.

May not be possible, many printer manufacturers don't allow the printer to operate without both cartridges. This forces you to buy both regularly. Not fair, but that's how they make money.

Out of ink? Perhaps the cartridge dried up, or if it's new did you remove the tape? Try removing it and reinstalling it.

When you print digital photos do you use one black and white cartridge and one color?

or do you use one color and one photo cartridge? or a different combination? When you print digital photos do you use one black and white cartridge and one color?
Depends on your printer. HP is one that some printers use a black cartridge and a tri-color cartridge. Some of their printers can use a photo-cartridge in place of the black. Basically this photo cartridge has black, light (Cyan)blue, and a light magenta. Now you have 5 colors and black. This is maximized for photos. You then may put your black cartridge back in for regular printing. The newer design HP units have 5 individual colors and a black already in them.

The pictures using just the tri-color and black are usually acceptable, But using the 5 colors and black are much nicer. When you print digital photos do you use one black and white cartridge and one color?
Depends on your printer. Read the instructions!
Usually 1 black cartridge and 1 color.
Depends on your printer I suppose...look at the instruction booklet. One of my printers has a 3 color cartridge and a black cartridge while the other I use for graphics and such has six separate color cartridges.

Also there is no such thing and a Black %26amp; White cartridge...ummm...the white is just where there is no ink on the printed page.
Well first there is no such thing as a black and white catridge...

Digital photo printing is photo printing period.

It uses SOME BLACK, and LOTS of coror depending on if you are printing a color image or a black image.

It prints what you see, so if there is color in the photo you want to print, yes itll print color...

most printers feature a Black Cartridge and a Color Cartridge, but some of the newer photo printers feature the ability of MORE COLORS and have 1 black cartridge and 2 color cartridges with different colors in them.
depends on the printer. some color printers use 1 cartridge (black included) some use 4-6 color cartridges.

Why can i not get my newly refilled lexmark ink cartridge to print properly?

I only had it refilled 24 hours ago and it no longer printsWhy can i not get my newly refilled lexmark ink cartridge to print properly?
Refills have always been an issue. Hard not to refill with the price of ink cartridges going insane.

Try using a cotton ball and a little bit of alcohol around the contact points (gold parts) of the cartridge as well as the bottom where the ink actually makes contact with paper. Also swab the contact points on the printer itself but use just a little bit of alcohol and blow it dry with a lung full of air.

Sometimes the ink has been allowed to remain low or out and dried out on the inside. Refilling is useless because the inside of the cartridge is all caked dried. Refill ASAP, preferably before the ink runs completely out.

Shop around for different refill places until you get one that the refills work. Quality and differences in ink may not allow the refilled cartridge to ever work properly. Otherwise, buying new cartridges is your only bet.Why can i not get my newly refilled lexmark ink cartridge to print properly?
Hi. Under the Lexmark 'Cartridge maintenance' tab, select 'Clean print head' or whatever term they use.
Most likely your cartridges have a ';memory'; that turns them off when it runs out of ink. Cheap refilling outfits can't reset that memory, so you most likely got it refilled for nothing.

The best way to go if you need new Ink for your printer is to get Remanufactured/Refurbished cartridges.

There are a whole lot of E-Tailers (Online Retailers) that offer those, and you save up to 90% over OEM (Original Cartridges).

There is a site I found that has more information:

    http://inkjetsdiscounts.com/how-do-i-ref鈥?/a>

    http://inkjetsdiscounts.com/faq

Also, they have a good list of trusted retailers that offer good services and products (most remanufactured ink cartridges have a 1 year warranty)

    http://inkjetsdiscounts.com/
Some times dried ink clogs the print head. Try removing the cartridge and putting a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the head. Replace the cartridge and have the printer run its head cleaning routine. You may need to do this more than once.

It is a way to keep the ';less used'; cartridges from drying up and causing other problems. So it uses just a bit of color to even print in black and white.

I know it sucks when you can't get to the store, to replace a cartridge but it will help prolong the life of your printer.

You should never turn off an inkjet printer. Read http://www.ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.as鈥?/a> for details

Epson has a better warranty than any other company. For a year they will fedex a replacement printer and pick up the old one should you need this. They have the print heads in the printer, while HP has them in the cartridge. This means that every time you buy an HP cartridge, you are paying for a new head. While some will say this makes the printer last longer than Epson, when you calculate the added cost, you could have bought 2 or 3 new Epsons in that time.

I get 11 free ink cartridges for my Epsons every month at http://www.ccs-digital.com/freeink.asp The cartridges cost under $3 each and I get $30 back each month. Try finding HP cartridges for $3.

I have a lexmarkX1185 that won't print. It tells me that I have a cartridge missing, but I have both.?

on the cartridge and on the printer, there are some connection, usually colored copper. If they are dirty, your printer may not be able to 'see' the cartridges.

Take the cartridge out. clean both sets of contacts with a soft cloth and a bit of alcohol. Otherwise, 90% chance you have a faulty cartridge.

Each printer is different. Manufacturers usually list capacity on the packaging. Ink will dry out if the printer is not used at least a couple of times a week. No one brand is better overall than the others. HP ink cartridges cost more because they include the print head on the cartridge.

    1. Check that the color cartridge isn't low as well.

    2. Make sure you removed the protective film over the cartridge's print heads.

    3. Make sure there isn't anything in the cartridge cradle.

    4. Try a test print to see if the cartridge is working - there's sometimes a diagnostic test print that you can run, either through the printer or through the software on your computer.

Do laser print cartridges generally last longer than standard black ink cartridges?

i know they cost more, but let's say they cost twice as much as inkjet cartridges, do they last twice as long as regular? thx for answering.Do laser print cartridges generally last longer than standard black ink cartridges?
A standard black inket at about $20 will give you about 200 prints.

A black toner at $60 will give you 2000.

Laser printers are bay far the more economical choice. There are some exceptions to that rule so always price out the toner and page yields when buying a laser printer.Do laser print cartridges generally last longer than standard black ink cartridges?
They better last longer since they cost more. Report Abuse

Yes they last much longer. The laser cartridges I have used can print just over 2000 pages; the injet cartridges could print several hundred. The price difference wasn't that great, either--15 for refurbished inkjet cartridges, to 25 for refurbished laserjet cartridges.

If you don't print a lot, it will take you a while to actually reap the savings from this, especially if you pay a lot for your laser. If you print a lot, you will realize your savings sooner. I found a laser (HP 1018) that was 60 bucks after rebate; I ebayed my old inkjet for 25, and the ink that was in the laser pretty much chewed up the difference--so by the time I replaced my first laser toner cartridge, I had already started saving money, and that was over almost two years ago.
If they you are planning to use only for printing in black color, then go for laserjet printer. you can print more documents than comparing to ink cartridge printers.

But if you are planning to use for color printing then for a long run the overall cost of laserjet printer will more than to a ink cartridge printer.

if you have any model in your mind and if u need more help regarding technical specs.. email me...

I want to print even if the printer thinks the cartridge is empty. I want to fool the printer.?

I'm having a similar problem with the Epson DX4850... it tells me the ink's out and it is SOOOOO NOT!

Both of us will just have to fork out for new ink... the printer will break if you try to fool it back. The manufacturers have made mugs of us all.

Sorry :(I want to print even if the printer thinks the cartridge is empty. I want to fool the printer.?
I don't think you can, unless you can reset the computer without the cartridges in, so to make it think you gave it a half full cartridge or so, its not like a paper feed issue, where you can hold down a switch, contact lexmark faq to find out.I want to print even if the printer thinks the cartridge is empty. If you are using the return program cartridge, you can not. it has a shut off electronic switch that kills it. And since that printer only takes one cartridge, you are stuck just replacing the cartridge.

HP cartridge - print out is blurred?

I bought a new cartridge 2 months ago and printed only once and just now I tried to print out something but the result is blurred like running out of ink - how come this happens since I only used it once, is it possible that the ink dried up during 2 months?HP cartridge - print out is blurred?
It could be clogged. If the print head cleanings don't work, try setting your print quality to ';best'; for a little while. This could help get the ink flowing properly again.HP cartridge - print out is blurred?
ya! its possible. you should use the printer at least once a couple f week to continue using. now you can open the cartridge from printer and drop a (just a) drop of thinner (nail polish remover could be used) to the head(wait a minute for the drop to be absorbed). now put it in printer. print 2 or 3 test page(color) and 2 or 3 test page(B/W). and now your ink should act as normal.
Theres is a cleaner utility software bundled on HP printers, try finding one on your HP printer driver CD. maybe the header of your cartridge dried up. so cleaning it will solve the problem, but if not try damping the header with wet softcotton, moisten it to soften the dried ink and wipe it gently.

Really the best you could do is go to either a local store like Office Max to be CLEANED properly and refilled. I would never recommend refilling a cartridge - it can give all kinds of problems.

When they run out just buy a new one and replace it.
Try pulling the cartridge out and reinstalling it.The cartridge may not be set in right. It happened to me too and after I reset it everything worked fine.
First try running a print head cleaning a couple of times. If that doesn't work, consider buying replacements. I have always used remanufactured ink cartridges with my HP printer, and have never had any issues. I'd suggest you give this a try rather than trying to refill your own ink cartridges.

my printer is only printing in color which is giving all my prints a yellow tint. i just replaced the cartridges for the second time. should i kick this printer to the curb and bring in the old one(which works fine). or is there something in the settings menu.Printer does not print with new black ink cartridge?
Make sure there is nothing covering the jets on the cartridge. Also how long has it been laying around? it might have dried out, and/or expired. On new printers the cartridges have expirations and it will not use them after a certain amount of time. Also try a printer self cleaning and see if that does anything. If none of that works, it might be the printer.Printer does not print with new black ink cartridge?
Have you taken the tape off of the cartridge?

also open the printers maintenance app and clean your heads.

Inkjet printer only has 3 colours in the cartridge, how does it print black aswell ?

i have a lexmark z735, it only has one cartridge with cyan majenta and yellow colours.how does it print black aswellInkjet printer only has 3 colours in the cartridge, how does it print black aswell ?
Lexmark claims to have formulated the color inks so that they combine to yield ';black.'; so when it combines all three colours its supposed to give the colour black. hope this helpsInkjet printer only has 3 colours in the cartridge, how does it print black aswell ?
i suppose it mixes the other colors.
The printer uses the mixture of colors to print in Black.
Mixing all the colors together produces black. That's why most printers these days include a black cartridge - it saves you from using 3x the ink to make black.

How do you sqeeze the last bit of toner out of my print cartridge?

My printer is a Brother MFC 8440 %26amp; our local supplier is out of stock until next week. I'm told that vacuum in the toner cartridge causes the printer to detect that it's empty, even though there is toner left. I shook the cartridge once and got another week out of it, but now it says tone empty again. Have a week before more stock comes in. Are they easily refilled by a novice? Cartridges are the TN-540 or 560.How do you sqeeze the last bit of toner out of my print cartridge?
Do what I do. PLace the cartridge on the edge of a counter..then take something long and thin like a knife handle, then place the handle part flat against the cartridge, With gentle, but firm pressure, press down and forward with one hand while hold the end of the cartridge with the other...basically you want to squeeze the toner left in the cartridge toward the opening, so that the printer will see that the top still has some left and will stop trying to squeeze the bottom.

Oh wait, was that for toothpaste or toner...erm...

Yes they are easily filled. Why though? why not shake shake shake, shake your groov...uh shake it again? How do you sqeeze the last bit of toner out of my print cartridge?
The simplest solution is to ALWAYS have a spare cartridge.

I am not familiar with your specific cartridges, but many CAN be refilled easily.

They sell ';refill kits'; for many different types.
Give it another good shake and cross your fingers.

No, toner cartridges are not refillable by end users.

Iam out of photo cartridge, I still have the tricolor and black, will I still be able to print quality photos?

I have an HP All-In-One Photo Printer Scanner Copier.Iam out of photo cartridge, I still have the tricolor and black, will I still be able to print quality photos?
No, i've tried that, they will fade very badly in a month or two. it will look good but will fade. and yes i know, the photo cartridges are soooo expensive.

HP printer detects refilled color ink cartridge (msg. on screen) & print quality is bad. Have they screwed us?

I bought a store-brand (refilled) color ink cartridge for my HP Officejet (7310xi All-in-One). When I installed it the screen gave a message saying ';HP Ink Depleted from Cartridge'; (specifically HP ink!). Obviously HP has put a smart chip in their cartridges to detect when ';their'; ink is depleted, meaning that it knows the cartridge has been refilled.

When I tried to print anything in color with that cartridge, the colors were screwed (mostly green). The message and poor print quality were both true on two different printers. So, this may just be a bad cartridge, and I will find out when I exchange it.

But... I'm wondering... does anyone know if HP has intentionally programmed their printers to NOT work with refilled cartridges, thus screwing us all and forcing us to by their own ridiculously overpriced cartridges?HP printer detects refilled color ink cartridge (msg. on screen) %26amp; print quality is bad. Have they screwed us?
It is just reading the cartridge as empty, it has no idea whose ink you have in there. Cartridge and printers are dumb, they only know empty/full. It has no idea if the cartridge has been refilled or not it is just reading that the cartridge is empty and therefore the ink is depleted.

Refilling and remanufactuing is imperfect from time to time you so get a bad cartridge which appears to be your case. I would exchange it, and if you find this issue again switch to another brand of third party ink or use the OEM. Remanufactured cartirdges can save you a fortune, however there is a trick to finidng a brand that will print just as the original HP did.HP printer detects refilled color ink cartridge (msg. on screen) %26amp; print quality is bad. Have they screwed us?
Just a friendly message from HP.

    According to HP:

Intelligence built into Original HP ink cartridges provides a host of time-saving features including alerts that let you know when ink cartridges need replacement.

Refill cartridges come in different qualities, some of them being safe and good, while the others can give bad quality prints.

I only know that Espson printers come with some protection counters, not the others.

    I have printed pictures - both ways - on my HP Deskjet F-340 All-In-One; my printer uses the HP-22 Tri-Color, %26amp;

    HP-58 Photo.

There is a difference in the inks, %26amp; the pictures will look slightly different - some people actually like the Tri-Color pictures better than the Photo [ink] pictures.

If you are wanting to keep the pictures for a long time, the photo would probably be better - the Tri-Color ink seems to fade a bit after several months.

    Good Luck,

Is there an Olympus P10 film cartridge that print more then 4 pix?

Photos are great but, the original film cartridge that came with the purchased P10 only print 4 pictures....Is there an Olympus P10 film cartridge that print more then 4 pix?
It's a well known and scummy practice that printer manufacturers include nearly empty cartridges with new printers. They take a loss on the actual printer and make a killing on the (normal sized) refills.

But even with the refills, it's much cheaper to keep ordering your prints and only use the P10 (or any color printer) for things you need on the fly.

Whether your printer will continue printing depends upon the model. Some will not for very good reason. But even if it does, it's a really bad idea to leave a color empty. It will damage the printer. Read http://www.ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.as鈥?/a>

I have just installed new print cartridges on my lexmark x1195 series and still does not print colour?

i have put new cartridges in my printer but it still does not print out any colour images, this is getting frustrating!! and after spending 60 dollars to renew them i would much appreciate any help that you can give me to resolve this problem, thanks in advance.I have just installed new print cartridges on my lexmark x1195 series and still does not print colour?
Make sure you have told the software that you have installed a new cartridge. Some of the Lexmark printers will not print until you have told it that you have installed a new cartridge. If it is not done, it will go through the motions, but nothing else.I have just installed new print cartridges on my lexmark x1195 series and still does not print colour?
I had a Lexmark and could not get on with it - you have to change your settings for each job that you print. consult

your instruction book that will tell you.

What is the best way to refill a lexmark color print cartridge?

I'm fed up with having to buy new print cartridges for my printer. It's ridiculous, they cost more than the printer itself! I tried refilling my cartridge with a refill kit, I took the cartridge out and prized off the green cap so I could get to the sponges that hold the ink, I filled the 3 sponges with the right colours. When I put the cartridge back together and put it back in the printer, it worked, but it still says the ink level is as low as it was before I refilled it, even tho I put so much ink into the sponges that it was almost overflowing. Why is it telling me the ink is low when clearly it's not? I don't see the point of paying 20-30 pounds, when I could buy a refill kit for a fiver and use that. What's the right way to do it?What is the best way to refill a lexmark color print cartridge?
I know the Cartridges have a chip that allows your printer to communicate with the Cartridges - this can be seen with the Date/Out of Date Error. I would conclude this same chip may have a way of detecting the lowering of ink and is not reset back to full when refilled.

I'm guessing yet does seem to meet the criteria of your problem.

    I Hope this Helps!!!
