What is the best way to refill a lexmark color print cartridge?

I'm fed up with having to buy new print cartridges for my printer. It's ridiculous, they cost more than the printer itself! I tried refilling my cartridge with a refill kit, I took the cartridge out and prized off the green cap so I could get to the sponges that hold the ink, I filled the 3 sponges with the right colours. When I put the cartridge back together and put it back in the printer, it worked, but it still says the ink level is as low as it was before I refilled it, even tho I put so much ink into the sponges that it was almost overflowing. Why is it telling me the ink is low when clearly it's not? I don't see the point of paying 20-30 pounds, when I could buy a refill kit for a fiver and use that. What's the right way to do it?What is the best way to refill a lexmark color print cartridge?
I know the Cartridges have a chip that allows your printer to communicate with the Cartridges - this can be seen with the Date/Out of Date Error. I would conclude this same chip may have a way of detecting the lowering of ink and is not reset back to full when refilled.

I'm guessing yet does seem to meet the criteria of your problem.

I Hope this Helps!!!

EDIT:

You might want to consider the following.

I totally agree with you. The price of new ink cartridges are pretty costly.

If you refilled your cartridge and it is working, then you shouldn't worry, if not read this and see if it helps you.

Resetting a Lexmark printer

You will firstly need to switch off your printer. Then simultaneously press the RETURN and READY keys while switching the printer on. This will take you to the Diagnostics Mode. The display unit will show the message 鈥楶erforming self test鈥? Choose 鈥楳aintenance count鈥? Reset the count to make it zero. Then select the RETURN key and go back Diagnostics Mode. Then you can reset the printer to go back to the normal mode

Open this link to Kodak's 5300 help page. Halfway down of the left is the ';chat online'; link. Open the link and tell them your problem. I have found that they are more than willing to help you. Give it a try.

You need to install the cartridges again, the instructions are below:

    1) Turn on the printer; take out the cartridges and shake them.

    2) Turn off the printer for a few minutes

    3) Turn on the printer, when it says ';insert inks';, and then insert the compatible cartridges one by one, making sure the cartridges are sitting completely in the slots.

Hope you can use your printer very soon.

Where to find older print cartridges?

Where is the best place to find older print cartridges like for example, Hewlett Packard Deskjet 722C and ones similar to that? Are there places online which sell these cartidges?Where to find older print cartridges?

It's cheaper to buy a new printer. Go to Epson.com and have a look. Then go to http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/ for a CISS which will save you tons of money and never have to change a cartridge again.

Try the clean heads function. I dont know what model of printer you have but there must be a utility function for cleaning the print head/s as the ink sometimes dries up on the nozzle and ink cannot pass through. Good Luck.My printer cartridge is not printing out pictures that I tell it to print from the computer(For my English?
