Have you turned off any ink monitoring software that came with the printer? It will stop you from using the cartridge once it gets to a certain level, whereas without the software you can use it til the pages start fading.





Also when printing text only, and things that don't need to be nice and neat, use draft quality printing and fast printing to use the minimum amount of ink.How do I make my print cartridge on lexmark X2450 last longer?

Lower the Quality of the print.


Whenever possible use only the Black Ink Cartridge, for text and facts you dont need the images and the headers and whatnot.


Simple Black and White txt , worked in books for 100+ years.
Most printers are set up initially to print in ';normal'; mode. You can save yourself a lot of ink usage by changing that setting to ';fast draft'; or ';draft'; and making that your default setting. For most things, that'll produce an acceptable print-out.
Realistically you can't





Either print less or take it down to a lower resolution and get crap printing

select quick print and use thinist text not bold high light only bits you want to print I think the cost of the carrtridges is a rip off
