I am not sure if the words ';Generic'; %26amp; ';Remanufactured'; mean the same thing - if yes, remanufactured inkjet cartridges sometimes have this problem - I would take it back to where you bought it - explain what printer is doing, %26amp; exchange for another cartridge.
It is possible {but not probable} cleaning the copper conductors {strips} on the cartridge could work, if [?] this is a ';Communication'; problem between printer %26amp; software.
Try removing the cartridge, %26amp; cleaning the copper strips with warm distilled water, or a warm mixture of 25% Ammonia / 75% distilled water. The copper conductors must be clean - even a firgerprint can cause multiple communication problems.
Good Luck,
Ken C.
