What do you do when your print cartridge cradle does not move?

Do I have to buy a whole new printer???


How can I fix it???!!!!


Do I have to buy a whole new cradle??? or


Do I just replace the print cartridge????





I had a paper jam before it stop moving!





My printer is a Hp Deskjet 6980xi





Can anyone PLEASE!!! help me fix it!!! I really don't wanna buy a whole new printer.What do you do when your print cartridge cradle does not move?
First off, just take a deep breath and go easy on the exclamations button on your keyboard. Here are a couple tips for trying to resolve it yourself:

A similar person's resolution:


It would print the test page....and then wouldn't move again to print anything else. So redid several times....then I lifted the lid while printing a test page so the cartridge was in the center and I could get ahold of it to slide it....left the printer ON, but unplugged the power cable...and then I was able to move the cartridge back and forth. I then took QTips with Windex on them and cleaned the silver bar the cartridge moves on. Got a lot of ink off of it. A couple more test prints...and sliding the cartridge......and it is finally running again.
