I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. Suggestions??

I am currently using a lexmark ink jet that uses up ink WAY too fast. My online classes require printing lots of information. Thanks for any suggestions :)I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. Suggestions??
A laser printer might help. They don't print in color (at least the monochrome ones don't) but the price has dropped way down and they're quite fast. In general, you don't need color for most academic purposes.

You also might consider setting your software to print two pages per side of a sheet of paper. If your eyes are okay, it's easy enough to read stuff in this format and it saves various resources as well.I am looking for a printer that can print high volume without replacing the ink cartridge often. I would say to use an HP printer. Laserjet if printing black Deskjet if printing both color and black. A Deskjet 6940 is good. 5,000 page monthy duty cycle. Ink- 97 color- 450-520pages, 96 black- 800 pages.
Laser printers are much cheaper to use for high volume printing but the up front cost is more:
