Make sure you've removed any tape, seals or anything like that on the new cartridge. If the new cartridge does not have a built-in printhead, then the printheads may need to be cleaned (use the built-in cleaning utility %26amp;/or try cleaning by hand with a soft, lint-free cloth and some alcohol.) If the cartridge has any contacts on the side, make sure the contacts on the cartridge %26amp; in the machine are clean. Also, make sure your printer settings in the computer are set to color %26amp; not black %26amp; white or grayscale.

Best of luck.

  1. The cartridges can fail from age, particularly if they were stored at elevated temperatures. The troubleshooting steps in this page may help, I would start by printing a test page from the printer front panel as shown in the link near the bottom of the page. This will eliminate driver issues from the mix. If the test page will not print color you may be able to revive the color cartridge by soaking it nozzles down with boil water for about 10 minutes. Remove the cartridge from the water and gently dry the electrical contacts with a lint free cloth, then install the cartridge back in the printer and try the test page again.
