In the Start menu should be a listing for printers. If not go to Control Panel and open them there. Make sure the printer is On-Line in the window. Also, right click and make sure it is selected as the default. If all is well, unplug the printer, turn it and the computer off. Hook the cable back up and bring up the computer. After it is operating, turn on the printer. If that fails, I would unload, then reload the driver.I own a epsom stylus dx4400, and it wont print, have the right cartridge and everything, pc dont reognise it?
If the computer says that it is not ready then it see the printer. have you tried changing USB ports to see if it picks it up. Windows may load a driver for that port and in doing so put things right.

or try another USB cable
